Aerospace Sourcing Buyer FAQ
Aerospace Sourcing is a sourcing service for aerospace and defense buyers: you send one request, we match it to qualified suppliers, flow down your requirements, track the job and deliver with a cert package. These answers cover how quoting, confidentiality, export control and paperwork work.
How sourcing through Aerospace Sourcing works
You send a request for parts, ground support equipment, obsolete parts, certified surplus material, test lab time or a small business subcontractor. We review it, match it to suppliers whose capability and quality system fit, and send you one quote with one lead time. When you place the order, you issue one purchase order to us, even if several shops are involved. We flow your requirements to each supplier, track the work, check the paperwork and ship with a certificate of conformance.
Aerospace Sourcing is. Start with the quote form, or go straight to a service page such as aerospace CNC machining, ground support equipment, obsolete aerospace parts or space test lab time.
Before you send drawings, read our confidentiality page, which explains NDAs and how controlled data moves. For pricing questions, the aerospace machining cost guide and the GSE fabrication cost guide explain what drives a quote, and the aerospace RFQ checklist lists what to include so a quote comes back without a round of questions.
Still have a question
If your question is not answered below, send it through the general request form and choose "other." It reaches the same people who review quotes, so a question about a specific part or requirement gets a specific answer, and a person replies within one business day.
Questions
What does Aerospace Sourcing do?
We source hardware and services for aerospace and defense buyers. You send a request for custom parts, ground support equipment, obsolete parts, certified surplus material, test lab time or small business subcontractors. We match the job to qualified suppliers, flow down your requirements, track the work, check the paperwork and deliver with a cert package. You deal with one point of contact instead of managing several shops yourself.
Do you make the parts yourselves?
No. We do not run machines, fabrication equipment or test chambers. We are a sourcing service that matches each job to suppliers with the right capability and quality system, then manages the job through delivery. That lets one request cover work that needs a machine shop, a coating house and a test lab without you placing three orders.
How quickly will I hear back?
A person replies within one business day of your request. Rush requests are prioritized. The time to a firm quote depends on how complete the package is and how many suppliers or processes the job needs. A released drawing, material specification, quantities, quality requirements and a need date are what most often decide whether a quote is fast or stalls on questions.
Will you sign an NDA before I send drawings?
Yes. NDAs come before files. Every supplier we work with also signs a flow-down NDA before seeing any customer data, and suppliers do not learn who the end customer is unless you approve it. Our confidentiality page explains how files are handled and how controlled data is transferred.
Can I upload ITAR, EAR or CUI drawings through your website?
No. Controlled technical data does not go through our website. ITAR or EAR controlled files and CUI move by secure transfer, to US persons only. Under both the ITAR and the EAR, releasing controlled technical data to a foreign person, even inside the United States, can count as an export, so your export compliance lead should confirm classification before anything is sent. See our confidentiality page for the steps.
Can you require AS9100, Nadcap and first article inspection from suppliers?
Yes. We flow your requirements down to each supplier, including AS9100 certification, AS9102 first article inspection, material traceability, Nadcap accredited special processes and the contract clauses you cite. Put them in the request so they shape which suppliers are considered. AS9100 status can be checked in the IAQG OASIS database and Nadcap status in PRI's Qualified Manufacturers List.
What paperwork ships with an order?
Every order ships with a certificate of conformance. Other documents ship when your request requires them, such as material certifications, special process certifications, an AS9102 first article inspection report, dimensional inspection reports, proof load test records for lifting equipment, or test reports and data from a lab. We check the paperwork against your requirements before the order ships.
How do pricing and lead times work?
You get one quote and one lead time for the whole job, even when several suppliers are involved. We do not publish prices or promise lead times before qualified suppliers review the package, because material, tolerances, outside processes, inspection, paperwork and quantity all move the number. Our machining and GSE cost guides explain those drivers in detail.
What if my job needs more than one shop?
That is common, and it is where a sourcing partner saves the most time. A machined part may need heat treat, coating and NDT from three other suppliers. You still get one quote, one point of contact and one purchase order. We coordinate the handoffs between suppliers and collect each supplier's certs into one package.
Do you have a supplier for every request?
No, and we will not pretend to. We review each request against the capability and quality systems of suppliers available to us. If we cannot find a qualified fit, we tell you directly rather than placing the job with a shop that is not right for it. Unusual materials, very large parts and specialized tests are the most likely gaps.
Can you find obsolete parts without counterfeit risk?
No one can remove the risk completely, but it can be managed. We start with original manufacturers and authorized channels, use independent sources only when needed, and flow down your traceability, inspection and testing requirements, including DFARS counterfeit clauses and SAE standards such as AS6081. Our obsolete parts and counterfeit avoidance pages explain each step.
Can you book environmental test lab time?
Yes, we coordinate vibration, shock, thermal vacuum, thermal cycling and EMI test time at outside labs, including spare capacity that labs list with us. Tell us the standard you are testing to, such as GEVS, SMC-S-016 or MIL-STD-461G, plus unit mass, levels and your date window. We do not promise lab dates before a lab confirms.
Can you help us find small business subcontractors?
Yes. Primes and larger subs can ask us to identify small business suppliers for a scope of work, including suppliers that hold socioeconomic designations, where those designations matter to your subcontracting plan. You should still verify a supplier's status in SAM.gov or the relevant SBA program before counting it toward goals. Use the small business matching option on the quote form.
Where are you located and who operates the service?
Aerospace Sourcing is, on the Space Coast. We focus on buyers on the Space Coast and across Florida, but we also take requests from anywhere in the US. When the right supplier for a job is outside Florida, we tell you and keep the same single point of contact through delivery.
